My kids would call some of the things my Aunt says #CRINGE. My 24 year old son would call it a #HotTake to say the least. I just say she’s from a completely different place and time. Specifically, Anniston, Alabama and the first half of the 20th century. So when I ask her about the Freedom Riders bus burning, look out. I’m more interested in understanding her life and times, than I am calling her out. Listening is about hearing hard things.
